JL Audio's is a classic story of entrepreneurial success, made possible by the efforts of a highly motivated, talented and passionate group of real "audio people". These include JL Audio's employees, Sales Representatives, Dealers and International Distributors that were all instrumental in fulfilling our company mission, which is to "Sell Great Audio.JL Audio was founded in 1975 by James Birch and Lucio Proni. They used the first letter of each of their names, to form a company name, hence "JL." Their first products were home speaker systems as well as home speaker kits.JL Audio is now owned and operated by Garmin International and active in the Home, Mobile, Powersports and Marine Audio markets. We focus on delivering unique engineering, superior quality and high-performance audio to our customers around the world. Behind all our efforts is a strong belief that great audio has real value, and that our customers can ‘tell the difference’.Throughout JL Audio you will find people who love audio, take it very seriously and consider themselves fortunate to have a career in such an enjoyable field. True “audio nuts” can be found around every corner of JL Audio’s facilities in Miramar, Florida and Phoenix, Arizona. They include former audio retailers, IASCA World Champions, installers, recording engineers, and an engineering staff with vast experience in professional, car and home audio product design.Supporting our engineering efforts is an outstanding group of dedicated production and logistics professionals who make sure that JL Audio's factories around the world, and here in the U.S., maintain our high quality standards. While we source component parts globally, we build many of our speakers right here in the U.S.A. Since most of our premium loudspeakers incorporate proprietary, patented technologies that require unique assembly techniques, we find that it is best to build them where we can directly control critical processes. Today, all our premium subwoofer drivers and marine speakers are built in-house with global components, as are most of our Enclosed Subwoofer Systems and all our Stealthbox® products.
